Zie, ik ben in ongerechtigheid geborenBehold I was brought forth in iniquity
En in zonde heeft mijn moeder mij ontvangenAnd in sin and my mother conceived me
Zie, U verheugt zich in de waarheid en in het innerlijke van mijBehold you delight in the truth and the inward me
En U leert mij, wijsheid in het verborgen hartAnd you teach me, wisdom in the secret heart

Onze zonden zijn niet ver weg, maar recht voor mijn neusOur sins not far but right in front of me
Tegen U en U alleen, God, ben ik schuldigAgainst you and you alone God I am guilty
Was mij grondig, reinig mij van ongerechtigheidWash me thoroughly cleanse me from iniquity
En leer mij, wijsheid in het verborgen hartAnd teach me, wisdom in the secret heart

Schep in mij een rein hart, o GodCreate in me a clean heart, oh God
Vernieuw een rechtvaardige geest in mij, o GodRenew a right spirit within me, oh God
Verstoot mij niet uit uw aanwezigheidCast me not away from your presence
Neem uw heilige geest niet wegTake not your holy spirit
Herstel in mij de vreugde van uw heilRestore in me the joy of your salvation

Stuur mij de grootste zondaar om te verkondigenSend me the chief of sinners to proclaim
