The Lion and the Fox

I was born in to the promised land
Before me came God-fearing men, I grew into a righteous man
I gave my life to the sacrificial lamb
But the fox swept in and placed this heart within the lion's hands
And the flow of the river in which I swam
was controlled by the beasts (controlled by the beasts)
we set securely upon the sand
The puritan's gold we dipped them in
it's begun to flake, begun to rust,
to reveal the true colors of their skin

But the trees, but the trees,
they are bending at the knees

they just feast and feast and feast

A man in rags told me of drought
in the land I love, the land of plenty
where no one goes without
With great persuasion I replied,
"Sweet Jesus will descend through the hole we made for him in the sky"
