I’ve laid my boat up on the keel,Ich hab mein Boot auf Kiel gelegt,
secured it by the book.vertäut nach allen Regeln.
I’ve swept the sea from the hull,Ich hab das Meer vom Rumpf gefegt,
took the wind from its sails,nahm Wind aus seinen Segeln,
broke the oars and the sword,zerbrach die Ruder und das Schwert,
let all the burdens go,ließ alle Lasten löschen,
it’s resting firm and carefree,nun liegt es fest und unbeschwert,
so firm and carefree.so fest und unbeschwert.
