Mientras caminaba hacia la plaza Kendall,As i walked to kendall square,
y cruzaba la cuenca del río allí,and crossed the river basin there,
el Charles estaba negro, el cielo azul,the charles was black, the sky was blue,
la vista era antigua, el puente era nuevo.the view was old, the bridge was new.
y más allá de la boca restringida del flujo,and past the flow's constricted mouth,
las líneas comerciales fluían mayormente hacia el sur,commercial lines flowed mostly south,
o hacia el este a través de un mar sin límites,or east across a boundless sea,
donde pronto se elevaría la estrella.where rising soon, the star would be.
Las mareas son movidas por el sol y la luna,the tides are moved by sun and moon.
la primavera durará de marzo a junio.the spring will last from march to june.
El tren de la línea roja pasará por detrás,the red line train will pass behind,
mientras el puente une el arroyo y el cielo.as long as bridge joins stream and sky.
y desde ese punto donde yo estaba parado,and from that point where i did stand,
me maravillé de las obras del hombre.i wondered at the works of man.
Me pregunté cómo comenzó este paseo,i wondered how this walk began,
hasta que el tren de la línea roja volvió a pasar.til red line train came round again.

donde los parlanchines tienen un lugar para encontrarse,where talkers have a place to meet,
donde los caminantes caminan por la calle,where walkers walk along the street,
y los subterráneos recorren caminos bien escondidos,and subways travel paths well hid,

el puente era antiguo, la vista era nueva.the bridge was old, the view was new.
y desde ese punto donde yo estaba parado,and from that point where i did stand,
me maravillé del plan del constructor.i wondered at the builder's plan.
Me pregunté cómo terminará este paseo,i wondered how this walk will end.
hasta que el tren de la ruta volvió a pasar.til path train came around again.
