Dad, if I didn't make the team
Would you make another scene?
Would you tell me I was loved
when the other kids where mean?

Mom, would I have a place to stay?
Even if I ran away?
Could you see the pain inside?
All the things I couldn't say

Even though I know I was a handful growing up
I have to thank you both for all your love
and for not giving up

Dad, would you put up with my band?
maybe lend a helping hand?
Even though you hate the noise
Would you try and0 understand?

Mom, if I came home with a "D"
would you have to lecture me?
Would you ground me for a month?
or until I got a "B"

Even though I know I was a headache and a chore
I have to thank you both for taking time
and giving so much more
