The Key

I wandered through a house unknown
Each room a tale I’d never told
The windows showed a world so near
Yet every door led back to here

I turned the key inside my mind
Unlocked a door, but stood behind
If I walk through, where will I be?
Another dream, or finally free?

The key, the door, the open space
The search for something time erased
If I was always meant to stay
Then why do I still drift away?
