Cold Winter Skies

Trembling hands grasping the neck of my lover
With shadows surrounding us both and acting as cover
Begging and pleading while praying that someone comes near
While the silence of miles ensuring that no one will hear

Holding her down, the flesh on my fingers turns black
Whispering to her, ensuring that she'll be alright
With one final breath, I watched the life fade from her eyes
Just as open and blue and still, as these cold winter skies
