Y Dios dijo, que haya lucesAnd God said, let there be the lights
En el firmamento del cieloIn the firmament of the heaven

Que haya luces en el cielo para separar el día de la nocheLet there be lights in heaven to divide the day from the night
Y que sean para señales, para estaciones y para días (y años)And let them be for signs, for seasons and for days (and years)
Y que sean luces en el firmamentoAnd let then be for lights in the firmament
Para dar luz sobre la tierraTo give light upon the earth

Y así fue, y Dios hizo dos, dos grandes lucesAnd it was so, and God made two, two great lights
La luz mayor para gobernar el díaThe greater light to rule the day
Y la luz menor para gobernar la noche, también las estrellasAnd the lesser light to rule the night, the stars as well
Y Dios las puso en el firmamento para dar luz sobre la tierraAnd God set them in the firmament to give light upon the earth

Y para gobernar, para gobernar sobre el día y sobre la nocheAnd to rule, to rule over the day and over the night
Para separar la oscuridad de la luzTo divide the darkness from the light

Que haya un firmamento en medio de las aguasLet there be a firmament in the midst of the waters

Y Dios dijo, que las aguas produzcan, abundantementeAnd God said, let the waters bring forth, abundantly
