Waterwings

I dove in without any waterwings
to save something I thought was worth saving
I saw you tied to a rock in the sand
I tried to be gentle and held out my hand

and ended ut traped in a telephone booth
when I touched the rock it turned into a dove
floated to surface and vanished above
and I turned to look as you fell from the shrike
you turned me into a rock.
