We breathe out and the words in the smoke fumes grow
Out our mouths, I'm leaving in a bad way, in a bad way
Acquaintances and friends comparing compliments all night
A flash of skeleton grins, discordant noise, the talking dims..

We got cold. Spent the night driving home
We swallowed road under bonnet. It all speeds by
And as the road unfolds, unfurling homes in the headlights
The space between your ears fills up with verse and tears..
