Below the Mausoleum

In the midst of shades among tombs
A twisted staircase
With stone steps leading below
To a dreadful haze
Foul stenches seizing the light
Caught in a trance
Lured by numbing sound from the deep
Blasphemous chants

Reciting texts off pages rotten
Praising names of old gods forgotten
Below the Mausoleum

A quivering mass blurred by fear
Flickering flames
Bow towards an onyx altar
Exposed remains
Shattering glass beneath soles
Sudden cries
Hooded figures turning their heads
Fiery eyes

Below the Mausoleum
Ancient ones, behold the sacrifice
That is not dead which eternal lies
Cruel Moloch, grotesque Coliseum
Below the Mausoleum

Demonic shadows flooding the hall
Through and through
Disembodied hands reaching out
To get hold of you
Up the staircase from where it begun
A hollow Moon
Yet there the entrance has been
Merely cold stone
