A Question Of Loyalties

In gray skies i'm here standing
Your written prose i see reflecting
Stay awhile & i will talk about my weathering.

I will reminisce about the hopes i have experienced
How i wish i'd known what i'd been up against,
Were my beliefs so high they justified my martyring?

Friends failed yesterday, no hero's ever found,
The greatest battle i ever fought was on the inside of myself.
Is beauty still worthwhile.

Tripping up on broken shoes,
I wandered through monotony
Held so close to what i thought, could keep me floating.
Ask if i believed.

I trusted in myself those years,
Muse of art inside my ears,
You can't cave in to your fears
This is worth more than your tears.
