And back to the grind
Though the roads are clear and dry
Out of the corner of your eye you see it
A lightning bluish blur
Left to right swerve
From curb to curb
There wouldn't be a chance to think
If time stopped with every blink

Now you know
The heart beats twice as fast
Before it's ready to blow
Pounding low
To fuel the words inside that
We already know

Flashback to the site of the crash
When you learned that this ride wouldn't be your last
Then the officer arrived
He could not believe his eyes
And later he said,
They took his life instead
Two more seconds and you would've been dead
But that's not the way it works
Mistakes are not rehearsed

You were two seconds from
The bottom of
The edge of the road or collision
But it wasn't your decision
Two seconds but
You buckled up
It's never what you see that gets you
But we get used to it
Two seconds on
In slow motion
You chest pumps hard in locomotion
