Bone Dry

Lonely as I sit
broke down off the highway.
Cars they sweep beside me,
on damp asphalt.
and I’m not sure where to go
I sit with the radio on.
& light a smoke.

Cause’ helplessness overwhelms us.
It’s out of my hands
I’m enclosed in a tin can
that ran bone dry.

Well, I suppose today ain’t my day.
Between the sheets I should have stayed
back in Alabama.
