Hemlock Shadows

I tried to find the star
The one you showed me all those times, I can't remember
But now the sky's so dark
And telescopes could never see that far

The sanctuaries that once shined are cinders on the ground
Memory's extinguished and there's nothing left here now
Silence of the oracles and gardens in the night
These sheets of black and burial shrines are poison to my eyes

I tried to let it go
Relinquished in the embrace of the snow
The twilight sky is dimmed
Earth to earth, it's coming to an end

The specter in the spiral staircase leading me straight down
Glowing dimly in the passages we found
Lost it to eternity, and everything is gone
Fallen silent in our final setting sun
