It happened again
Without even knowing
Unintentionally
I didn't mean to be mean

It's not an excuse
But I couldn't help it
And what's the use
When sorry's just regret
I could say all the right words
But I'm afraid I'd make it worse

Why does it take a mistake
To know that I was wrong
Why do I have to hurt someone
Why must I walk through the fire
Just to know it burns
Why do I have to learn the hard way
I'm trying to change
But I'm only beginning
To understand
How broken I really am
Maybe I should just go
I'm not sure this is helping
Good intentions I know
They don't mean a thing
Every time I try to love
Oh I only mess it up
Why does it take a mistake
