Dear Time,
If you don't mind
Would you kindly read this letter of mine?
I've got some things I need to know,
some questions laying heavy on my soul.

Why've you been
taken me so far away from way back when?
I know I'm just a simple heart.
But you've got a way of tearing my little world apart.

I know you're precious, I've heard you fly.
Before I know it, you've already gone by.
But I need a moment to slow down.
Can't you stop your cruel old hands from spinning round?

I've had loved ones who've moved on.
How'd you keep going like there's nothing wrong?
Somehow the years keep passing by,
I see you in the lines around my eyes.
