Paper Carousel

The grass was taller when I was small
The sky was wider, I recall
A swing that creaked like a lullaby
Now hangs alone beneath a grey sky

The rain knows all my names
And still it falls the same

Round and round, the paper carousel
Spinning dreams that never fell
I close my eyes to feel the sound
Of voices lost beneath the ground

A photo curled inside a drawer
The house we left, it breathes no more
Dusty dolls with painted eyes
Still stare through years that said goodbye

The wind repeats the past
Like it hopes it'll last

Round and round, the paper carousel
Spinning dreams that never fell
I close my eyes to feel the sound

The Sun was soft, the days were long
Now even shadows don't belong
A child's laugh in broken glass
Echoes where the moments pass
