He withdrew, the innocent now guiltyEle se retirou o inocente agora culpado ficou
And handed over to the Romans, Jesus was taken as a sinnerE entregue aos romanos, Jesus foi levado como um pecador

And arriving at the place called CalvaryE chegando ao lugar chamado calvário
There they crucified him along with the criminalsAli o crucificaram bem como aos malfeitores
One on the right and the other on the left, yet Jesus saidUm a direita e o outro a esquerda, contudo Jesus dizia
Father, forgive them for they do not know what they doPai, perdoa-lhes porque não sabem o que fazem

Then dividing his garments they cast lotsEntão repartindo vestes dele lançaram sorte
And around the sixth hour, Jesus cried outE por volta da hora sexta, clamou Jesus

Jesus cried out: Eli, Eli, lama sabachthaniClamou Jesus: Eli, eli lama sabaquitane

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?Deus meu, Deus meu, porque me desamparaste?
And one of those who were there quickly ran to get a spongeE um dos que estavam ali logo correu a buscar uma esponja

And behold, the temple veil was torn in twoE eis que o véu do templo se rasgou em duas partes
From top to bottom, nature could not bear it, the earth shookDe alto a baixo a natureza não suportou fenderam as terras
The earth trembled and the rocks splitTremeu as terras e fenderam-se as rochas

Seeing the centurion what happened he saidVendo o centurião o que aconteceu disse
It was true, he was the son of GodEra verdade, era o filho de Deus
Then one of the soldiers pierced his sideEntão um dos soldados seu lado furou
And at once blood and water flowedE logo de uma vez sangue e água jorrou

They buried Jesus in a closed tomb in a new tombSepultaram Jesus em sepulcro fechado em um túmulo novo
He was well guarded, the enemy thoughtEle foi bem guardado, o inimigo pensou
That in that battle he had wonQue naquela peleja ele tinha ganhado
And on the third day they went to perfume Jesus' body, he was no longer thereE no terceiro dia foram perfumar o corpo de Jesus já não estava lá
And Mary crying askedE Maria chorando logo perguntou
Where is my Lord, where have they put himOnde está meu senhor, onde o colocou

He is no longer here for he has risen in this great battleNão está mais aqui pois já ressuscitou nessa grande peleja
He was victorious because his word does not failEle foi vencedor pois a sua palavra não falha
He never defeated death, he defeated SatanJamais ele venceu a morte venceu satanás
He brought salvation to those who did not deserve it, brought life and peaceTrouxe a salvação a quem não merecia trouxe vida e paz

He is no longer here for he has risen in this great battleNão está mais aqui pois já ressuscitou nessa grande peleja
He was victorious because his word does not failEle foi vencedor pois a sua palavra não falha
He never defeated death, he defeated Satan, brought salvationJamais ele venceu a morte venceu satanás trouxe a salvação
To those who did not deserve it, brought life and peaceA quem não merecia trouxe vida e paz
