A Matter Of Loneliness

this here is a morning that i regret
not because it's a morning of any particular significance
just because it's a morning, that's all
that will slip into an afternoon
and i'll still be alone by nightfall

the mailman didn't miss me
when i didn't step outside today
the neighbors didn't notice
when i accidentally threw 50 bucs away

i'll force myself up out of bed this morning
make another pot of coffee
and i'll watch the t.v., the telephone won't ring
