Tears Wine And Flowers

A friend of mine called one day to see if I was home
My wife said no not knowing I was on the other phone
And what I heard him tell her tore my world apart
Now this is my story of tears wine and flowers

I cried when I thought I had caught you being cruel
Why'd often tears are only trophies of a fool
Then I'd drank a bit said I'd forget the love we used to share
Wine speaks much louder than my tongue would ever dare

But just in time my feeble mind told me I was wrong
Friends may fish but they can't catch love in a happy home
The love that bloomed for you and me just seems to grow and grow
One is five one is four and we both love them so

Now the sun is shining grey clouds have disappeared
Our love is stronger now than when it first appeared
And wise word meant to live in lonely ivory towers
