Swirl

I've got these friends they just don't quit,
When I am down, they help me forget,
What I do.

We swirl words around,
In hopes that what we found
Is something close to the truth.

We take our time,
And make it shine,
When it is dark outside.

We roll the night,
Up really tight,
And then we go for a ride.

Drivin' 'round no destination in mind,
No time to tell us where to go,
A path as long as we want it to wind,
And no directions that we need to know.

We have our smokes,
And make our jokes,
Engage in any needed consoling.

The night is done,
But we are young,
So we just keep on going.
