Stained glass, cross and wine
(just) aren't enough to comfort or justify
an accident or crime
no lawsuit will make it right or buy some more time

If this is just someone else
why doesn't it feel the same?
Don't ask me to count blessings!

The so called better place
gets pushed away from here
when arbitrary fate
summons someone dear
with no warning sign

Homage, tears, goodbye
we're all gathered here to testify
we live and we must die
before there's time to reason and question why
