From the Sky

Looking up to the stars I see
That time is standing still
Never grasping at just how far
Not fully understanding

Is our existence all we have
Of a distant dying world
Transcending space and time
Contingent from our own kind

Now I know my life's been just a dream

Like the sound of a distant scream
Or the flow of a winding stream

Always praying to your god
But who does your god pray to
Are all our pleas in aimless vain
Or do they really help to stop our pain

Under the prying eyes of twilight
There are no shadows overhead
Covered in a shroud of darkness
With pinholes in the sky
