My Withering Self

I flow, across the fields of damnation - I feel the pain, it stings in me – I am at one with thee.
The impending shadows of the dark skies above stretch across the land –
a blanket of death, my black exterior.
In the distance a roar is heard, the growl of people in horrid pain - beyond the abyss –
beyond the pits.

Come demon! Reveal your truth to me - I am yours finally.
[Descending] – falling in a well of insanity.
I awake, beyond holocaust - in the wilderness of death I tread on unknown ground.

We slave for our freedom, a false freedom we seek – enlightenment in captivity,
the reign of the dark emperor.
A craving to see the truth, to live in the reality we cannot cope with.
I hide away - a dream is too real.
Tearing, the abrasive reality all around me, I can’t escape no more. I am but a wretch in a realm of madness.

Walking the path of doom alone, I speak yet no one hears me.
The world is paused still I am alive.
They look straight upon me still they do not see me, am I dead already?
From the skies above there comes a calling that only I respond to,
I must be the only one here.
The portal opens - the crackling of thunder is heard, the dark mist is coming nearer
Calling my name - calling for me. I enter the gate to be at one with thee.

Noooooooo… I didn’t know it
Noooooooo… I never sought it

Slicing, tearing, limbs gave up bearing
No man; nor beast can overcome this

In the dark, I feel a presence of night and of tranquility - total stillness engulfs me.
I bear the mark - forever to walk the land as one with the plague - I am the expelled one.
Succumbing - I slowly give in to the overwhelming forces.
Now I am one of the enlightened ones.
I can see the truth, the rotten truth in all its grimness – Was this what I wanted?

My eyes no longer able to see
My mouth no longer able to speak
My heart no longer able to beat
The cold silence devours me
What a beautiful silence it is….

Alone as before, I long for the demon’s caress.
