Old Wine

I have stared down the barrel to see the joy beyond
This path I’ve paved and sown in pain, the nights
I’ve spent alone, carnality won’t hold me when I weep
It’ll lay out its branches, crucify Me in a week

But tarry in the garden, can you pray
To lead My beloved out of all her caves and graves
You have done such great things for me
Out of fire, into fullness with a song as I lean

Every promise is paid for in tears
When hope deferred breaks you down o’er an age’s worth of years
Yet every drop shed clarifies my eyes
To see and bear the burden you ransomed with your life

Hashem never cuts covenant ending in divorce
Sing to Yerushalayim the end of all her wars
Blessed is He who comes, no knee will have a choice
He’ll split apart the olivet and comfort with a voice
That’ll bring to the time of birth and cause delivery
Draw Eden from the wilderness and let a barren woman sing

For I want a love that survives a lifetime
Don’t give me a weak drink, I want the old wine
