Look upon, the surface
Touch your fingers to the glass
Reflected back at you
A mirage you cannot see past

A window shows you nothing
If you refuse to look outside
Transfixed by fear of something

To my eyes, it's crystal clear
Your pane of glass, your prison
A self-confining mirror

The truth lies beyond the mirror
A world just out of reach

A mask that protects, by suffocating

Mesmerized by your illusions
Images you craft and perfect
This imaginary person
Kills the very self you sought to protect
