I swear by the falling stars
قَسَمًا بِالنَّازِلَاتِ الْمَاحِقَاتْ
qasamā bi-n-nāzilāti l-māḥiqāt
And the pure blood that flows
وَالدِّمَاءِ الزَّاكِيَاتِ الطَّاهِرَاتْ
wa-d-dimā'i z-zākiyāti ṭ-ṭāhirāt

In the towering, majestic mountains

fī l-jibāli sh-shāmikāti sh-shāhiqāt
We have risen, it's life or death
نَحْنُ ثُرْنَا فَحَيَاةٌ أَوْ مَمَاتْ

And we played the melody of the rifle as our tune
وَعَزَفْنَا نَغْمَةَ الرَّشَّاشِ لَحْنَا
wa-'azafnā naghmata r-raššāši laḥnā

And we are determined that Algeria lives
وَعَقَدْنَا الْعَزْمَ أَنْ تَحْيَا الْجَزَائِرْ

jabhatatu t-taḥrīri a'taynāki 'ahdan
