Que mis hijos no menosprecien el golpeLet not My children slight the stroke
Que envío para castigar;I for chastisement send;
Ni desmayen bajo Mi amable reproche,Nor faint beneath My kind rebuke,
Porque aún soy su Amigo.For still I am their Friend.

Quizás pueda dejar a los malvadosThe wicked I perhaps may leave
Por un tiempo, y no reprender;Awhile, and not reprove;
Pero a todos los hijos que reciboBut all the children I receive
Azoto, porque los amo.I scourge, because I love.

Si por lo tanto te dejaran sinIf therefore you were left without
Esta necesaria disciplina;This needful discipline;
Podrías, con razón, dudar,You might, with cause, admit a doubt,
Si en verdad fueras Mío.If you, indeed, were Mine.

¿Acaso los padres terrenales esperanShall earthly parents then expect
Que sus hijos se sometan?Their children to submit?
¿Y no te humillarás tú, cuando te corrija,And wilt not you, when I correct,
Ante Mis pies?Be humbled at My feet?

Para complacerse a sí mismos a menudo castigan,To please themselves they oft chastise,
Y hacen sufrir a sus hijos;And put their sons to pain;
Pero tú eres precioso a Mis ojos,But you are precious in My eyes,
Y no sufrirás en vano.And shall not smart in vain.

Veo sus corazones, actualmente, llenosI see your hearts, at present, filled
De dolor y profunda angustia;With grief, and deep distress;
Pero pronto estas semillas amargas daránBut soon these bitter seeds shall yield
Los frutos de justicia.The fruits of righteousness.

¡Rompe las nubes, querido Señor, y brilla!Break through the clouds, dear Lord, and shine!
¡Déjanos percibirte cerca!Let us perceive Thee nigh!
Y a cada hijo afligido tuyoAnd to each mourning child of Thine
