Too Close To Home

My body marked charred to the bone
with these insecurities that I call my own.
I see my life just slip away.

Twenty years wasted,
will I live another day?
Divided angel spread your wings
and take me far away from here.

I want to live among the stars
and forget all my fears.
This dream, it speaks to me,
like a moth into a flame.

Why does it encompass me?
I live just to pray for
the hope of success,
to simply find my way.

I've never rescued an
instance where I've felt content.

In a room with no windows,
the shadows seem to merge.

Pushing day by day,
this fear forms in my throat.

One somber swallow,
