that walks through life,que camina por la vida,
that sings as it goesque va cantando a su paso
and kisses the shores,y besando las orillas,
that surrenders to fateque se abandona a la suerte
and fate withers it away;y su suerte le marchita;
I am like the river that passessoy como el río que pasa
and dies day by day.y se muere día a día.

I am the fruit of the landY de la tierra soy fruto
that grew with the drought,que creció con la sequía,
that ripened among fieldsque maduró entre campos
of wheat and olivesde trigales y de olivas
and took root in the summitsy que arraigó por las cumbres
where days die;donde se mueren los días;
I am the fruit of my landyo de mi tierra soy fruto
that grew with the drought.que creció con la sequía.

My soul is nostalgicTiene nostalgia mi alma
for a time that has passedde un tiempo que ya pasó
and the sadness lefty la tristeza que deja
by the loneliness of goodbye;la soledad del adiós;
sometimes it seeks the nighta veces busca la noche
to hide its pain,para ocultar su dolor,
it has sadness and nostalgiatiene tristeza y nostalgia
for loneliness and love.de soledad y de amor.

And I embrace the wind,Y voy abrazando al viento,
rocking in its lament,arrullándose en su queja,
singing softly to it,le voy cantando bajito,
telling it a poem:le voy diciendo un poema:
that we are passing windque somos viento de paso
that caresses the earth,que acariciamos la tierra,
that the paths remainque se quedan los caminos
and the poets die.y que se mueran los poetas.

And I am of everyone and no one,Y soy de todos y nadie,
of sorrows and joys;de penas y de alegrías;
I am of those who stay silentyo soy de aquellos que callan
and I am of those who shout.y soy de aquellos que gritan.
