Well I was ridin’ high and the morning was just fine
I saw my little baby and she gave me the eye
I said: Hey little Boardwalk Lady where we goin' to?
We're going by the river, gonna make love to you!

We started out to quicken our pace
When suddenly sproutin' up from all over the place
Were plastic gnomes with wooden combs
Dressed in white patent-leather-lace
Who showed us a shortcut to the Boardwalk Lady’s place… Hah!

Well I stepped inside but I played it cool
Cause sittin' there was the prince of fools
Lying on an aqua feather-bed
Well I cried out: Am I losing my mind?
He said: Not yet but keep on tryin’
And maybe you'll dig the Boardwalk Lady’s head
