Ash Like Snow

When i awoke i hung my head
We are ghosts, the living dead
As i awaited the sun
The streets gave way to a drunk
Adorned in red

And since the silence of the dawn
I heard him sing a rueful song
Soft and slow,
It wrapped around my bones
So i sand along

Desperate hope
Reminds me that i'm alone
But even so, inside i know
That i will see you again

We rose this place up from the mud
Sustained by poor man's blood
We scratch and we crawl
Away from its jaws
But it will swallow all of us

Under boot, it's hard to breath
They leash us and bind our feet
So say not a word
Or they'll lock you away
Just like the girl that they took from me

He sang for a city that he used to know
And i sang for the love that i lost long ago
We sang towards the sky to a god
Up above
That may never come

I fell asleep with moon's return
And in my dreams, these buildings burn
And through the glow
The ash will fall like snow
Upon this earth
