Lament For Lost Dreams

Me desperté un día,I woke up one day,
y no sabía de dónde venía.and didn't know whence I came.
Miré hacia atrás un día,I looked back one day,
y nada pronunciaba mi nombre.and nothing spoke my name.

Me vi desde lejos,I saw myself from afar,
y no podía comprender.and could not comprehend.
Sentí una cicatriz palpitante,I felt a throbbing scar,
y supe que nunca sanaría.and knew it would never mend.

Contemplé el camino detrás de mí,I beheld the path behind me,
y las malas hierbas crecían altas.and the weeds were growing tall.
Miré donde deberían estar mis pasos,I looked where my footsteps should be,
pero no había nada en absoluto.but there was nothing there at all.

Me arrodillé sin hacer ruido,I knelt down without a sound,
sintiendo el vacío en mi interior.feeling the emptiness inside.
Enterré mi rostro en el suelo,I buried my face in the ground,
gritando en silencio para contener la marea.screaming silently to stem the tide.

Gritaré en la noche,I will cry out into the night,
y dejaré que mi angustia se desvanezca.and let my anguish die away.
Apartaré mi agonía,I will thrust my agony aside,
para prepararme para un nuevo día.to prepare for a new day.

En este momento mi fuerza falló,in this moment my strength failed,
me estaba desplomando en el suelo.I was falling through the ground.
A lo lejos mi alma lloraba,in the distance my soul wailed,
todas mis partes se desataron.all my parts became unbound.

En este momento me sentí fuerte,in this moment I felt strong,
podía verme por completo.I could see me inside out.
Y mi alma me acompañó,and my soul it came along,
borrando mi lucha en la oscuridad.so effacing my pitch-dark bout.

Lloré por lo que no estaba destinado a ser,I cried for what was not meant to be,
un último tributo a los sueños perdidos.a last tribute to lost dreams.
Tuve que dejar atrás mi efigie,I had to leave behind my effigy,
y con ella enterrar todos mis gritos.and with it bury all my screams.

Me di la vuelta y miré hacia adelante,I turned around and looked straight on,
consciente de las encrucijadas que se avecinaban.aware of the crossroads up ahead.
Sentí que mi miedo se desvanecía por primera vez,I felt my fear the first time gone,
y vi un futuro por el cual caminar.and saw a future for me to tread.
