Rain

My soul seeps into the arid soil
I purify in the ichor below
The bottomless wells
Of buried dreams and forgotten years
A eulogy of portraits damned
Painted in blood and tears

A vestige of words unspoken
And lost stories left untold
Of what could have been
And what shall be no more

Streaks of crimson cascade
Through the oaken shadows peer
Light my endless quest
Down the halls of dismal drear
As the moonlight mirrors the sea

I gaze into a reflection cold and still
The stars above rain upon my lifeless flesh
And release me beyond the world at last
My soul seeps into the arid soil
I purify in the ichor below

Open the ethereal gates
Lure me to my longed rest
Pierce my hollowed heart
Bless me and be my death
