Soy un faro,I am a light house,
desgastado por el clima y las olas.worn by the weather and the waves.
Mantengo mi lámpara encendida,I keep my lamp lit,
para advertir a los marineros en su camino.to warn the sailors on their way.
Te contaré una historia,I'll tell a story,
te pintaré un cuadro de mi pasado.paint you a picture from my past.
Yo era tan feliz...I was so happy...
Pero la alegría en esta vida rara vez dura.But joy in this life seldom lasts.

Tenía un cuidador,I had a keeper,
Él me ayudaba a advertir a los barcos en el mar.He helped me warn the ships at sea.
Nos habíamos acercado,We had grown closer,
Hasta que su alegría significaba todo para mí.Till His joy meant everything to me.
Y él iba a casarse,And He was to marry,
Con una chica que brillaba con belleza y luz.A girl who shone with beauty and light.
Y se amaban mutuamente,And they loved each other,
Y conmigo veían las puestas de sol hasta la noche.And with me watched the sunsets into night.

Y las olas chocando a mi alrededor,And the waves crashing around me,
la arena se desliza hacia el mar...the sand slips out to the sea..
y los vientos que soplan me recuerdan,and the winds that blow reminds me,
lo que ha sido y lo que nunca podrá ser.of what has been, and what can never be.

Ella tuvo que dejarnos,She had to leave us,
Mi cuidador, él rezaba por su regreso seguro.My keeper, He prayed for her safe return.
Pero cuando llegó la noche,But when the night came,
El clima se convirtió en una tormenta furiosa.The weather to a raging storm had turned.
Él observaba a su barco luchar,He watched their ship fight,
Pero en vano, contra los vientos salvajes y terribles.But in vain, against the wild and terrible winds.
Y yo, tan impotente,And me, so helpless,
ella se estrelló contra las rocas y encontró su descanso.she dashed against the rocks, and met her rest.

Mi cuidador la encontró arrastrada en la orilla...My keeper found her washed up on the shore..
Besó su rostro frío,He kissed her cold face,
