The Rain

I spent a couple months with my head against a window pane.
I was watching water collect itself.
I tried for weeks just to figure out what it means
And then the noise against the glass finally started making sense.

It begged for an ear to listen.
It begged me for an ear to listen and it said:

"I will come, and I will go. You can hate me while I'm here
But you will need me when I'm gone. Though my purpose isn't clear
I am never far away. So when everything that's in your way
Decides to destroy your cleanest slate, I will be your saving grace.
And I know you felt abandoned, but when I walked away from you...
I walked away from myself as well".
