They Killed the Palomo

Mataron Al Palomo

Gentlemen, I'm gonna sing you the tale of the PalomoSeñores, voy a cantarles el corrido del Palomo
Another fast one, with a strong backOtro de cascos ligeros, y muy macizo su lomo
At the San Marcos fair, he finally beat the MoroEn la feria de San Marcos, ganó por último al Moro

With great distrust, he always ran on the outsideCon una gran desconfianza, corria siempre por fuera
There he signed his fate, taking the leadAhí firmo su sentencia, al tomar la delantera
He reached the finish line first, won his last raceLlegó primero a la neta, ganó su última carrera

They took him to the stable, and the Güero, owner of the MoroLo llevaron al pesebre, y el Güero, dueño del Moro
Was a cowardly villain, seeing him all aloneEra un villano cobarde, al verlo que estaba solo
He shot him in the forehead, and that’s how the Palomo diedLe dio un balazo en la frente, y así moría el Palomo

He looked up at the sky, as if accusing the cowardQuedo mirando así al cielo, como acusando al cobarde
Just then his owner arrived, but he couldn’t save himEn eso llego su dueño, más ya no pudo salvarle
And through sobs he said: I swear, I’ll avenge youY entre sollozos le dijo: Te juro, voy a vengarte

Pedro was going from fair to fair, with just one thoughtPedro andaba de feria en feria, solo traia un pensamiento
He carries a wound in his soul, that time couldn’t healLleva en su alma un herida, que no curaba ni el tiempo
He asks the sky for life, to fulfill his vowAl cielo le pide vida, pa' cumplir su juramento
