Warrior In a Garden

Granddaddy spent a lifetime on the plow
He'd be out there as soon as Sun come up
Turnin' rows and puttin' seeds in the ground
Was the biggest gentle giant there ever was

But he always kept a snub nose in the glove box
Had it with him every time he rode to town
Guess back then I didn't now how the world could be so cold
So I asked him why ya keep that thing around

He said I pray for peace but I prepare to fight
I hope I never use it but I ain't givin' up my life
I'd rather have it and not need it boy cause I've been there before

He said back then uncle sam had bussiness over seas
And when I turned 18 my name got called
Just a farmer boy with an m16 shippin' off in his army green
If I learned to shoot I might make it home

I lock my doors and say grace every night
