Daughters of the Horizon

They came with the winds of distant oceans
From lands I've only seen in dreams
Bearing songs of ancient kingdoms
And truths not found in books or streams

Each one carried a different story
Each one spoke a different tongue
And every tale unlocked a doorway
To worlds I'd never known

The farther that I reached beyond
The more horizons came to view
And every answer I embraced
Made another journey new

Shining in their distant eyes

Calling from the edge of time
And I opened every doorway
One by one they entered mine

Some spoke softly of forgotten wonders
Some of pleasures yet untold
Some of wisdom wrapped in mystery
Some of futures bought with gold

I gathered every shining fragment
Like a collector of the stars
Never asking where they led me
Only marveling at what they are

Once I searched for understanding
Now I searched for something more
Though I could not name the hunger
It was stronger than before
