Strange Thunder

I've never heard the sky so angry before
And I've never felt it shake me down
Down to my core!
Funny, it's not even raining
There's not a cloud in the sky
But that strange thunder's rolling by

Staring through faces
That I've grown too numb to see
And the fire that rages
Burns away their memory
All of the ghosts left to wonder
Maybe they'll come back to life
When that strange thunder passes by

Not a whisper of warning
Carrying echoes of blame
Stealing life from the living
Why do I follow the flames?

Somebody told me
Keep your head down
Don't let them see you trip in your step
When the day comes and the sky falls
I'll be the one staring straight ahead

Nobody's coming to save you
Heaven, it knows every cry
Beneath the strange thunder rolling by!
