The Next Big Thing

Everybody thinks their purpose
Is to be the next big thing
Forgetting that we are just puppets
Fighting with the strings
We tell our kids they'll special
They'll achieve more than the rest

Resulting in a society
Of people sitting on their ass
Greatness comes with hard work
But deny that logic out of fear
Well, we always have reality TV
Being good at nothing became a career

We're all addicted to something
That takes away the pain
We're all desperate to become
Something that gives us fame
We're all whores of this anxiety, we are
And attention as payment is enough

I promise I'll be better
Greater than the rest
Inside of me I'm rotting
But I will look my best

How many likes give you meaning?
Empty numbers that count your self-worth
Only show it when it looks impressive
Hiding the hard parts of our lives

And I will be the next big thing!
