Makes Me Happy

It's that every now and then
That one given moment
You say "please, don't let it end
It's mine and I own it"

Leaves my heart beating fast
And, then, it all seems clear
If I happen to ask
"Oh God, what am I doing here?"

I'll say that it makes me happy
Oh, isn't that all that matters anyway
As long as you can hear me laughing
You know I have lived for one day

Don't you forget it
That's not why I'm in it
No, that's not what that is for
It's worth a whole lot more

I can close my eyes, make it all go away
Open them up when I'm ready to stay
Keep those things there close in sight
Especially those things I really like

Day might just run for cover
As the darkness rolls in with it's thunder
But, I'll be all right as long as I can
Simply walk over and turn on a light
