Waking up surrounded at midday
Six people and they all look the same
Not sure he knows them, but glad they came
So nice they took the time on a sunday

Followers file in like children
Distressed to see it's happened again
The same parade of faces as then
Incites slow recognition within
And drowsy eyes survey the room

I know nobody coming through the door
Has any idea what he means to say
And everybody coming through that door,
Sends a prayer into the air
Before they slip away

Too many hours of nothing to see
A lonely room and ghosts on tv
A fleeting flash of clarity,
Then conversations veering off-key

No keeping up with all that he's on
Fact and fancy fuse into one
Guests arrive the moment they've gone
Not long enough until the next one
And drowsy eyes survey the room.
