Driving Home

Driving home late one night when I came across a scene
There was a girl lying bleeding by the side of the road
She had written off her car, she had skidded off the road
The other passenger was trapped in the wreckage

So I held her in my arms, as the ambulance arrived
It was too late, 'cos by now there was nothing could be done
And I always will remember that look upon her face
I learned later she was only seventeen
