Big, Cold Mountain

Last night a big, cold mountain raised up outside my door
Tall as the clouds it stretches, never once seen before
I fear should I try to round it, I'd be forever lost
Somewhere by that big, cold mountain covered in frost

There's one million words for heartache, one million names for pain
One million tears collecting in rivers as fallen rain
To cascade in streams and wander aimlessly to the sea
To drift with the tides and the currents indefinitely

Last night I braved the mountain, tackled its wintry peak
Where standing an icy gust lifted me off my feet
In lover's arms it held me suspended in time and space
Then the cold mountain tossed me down upon the rocks at its base

These days I've grown accustomed to the mountain outside my door
Which, like the wolves, has circled; the path leading round is no more
I fear should I try to cross it, I'd be forever lost
