We call human what is no longer human
Empathy was the first scarce resource
Money came first you know how it is
When your neighbor is a cost and not a bond

The earthling who calls himself civilized
Stepped on the sick to get ahead
And the speech of unity was delivered
By those who were never on the same side only

Hell didn't come from outside
Hell was the others and it was us
The pandemic only unveiled the dawn
Of a humanity that lived in two

A species lacking in itself
A species lacking in compassion
Money comes first and the rest is left
Waiting for a second incarnation

How many died alone and the market opened
How many were buried without a name or a witness
The stock market rose and the cemetery ground vanished
Under the weight of those who will never amount to anything

And then we returned and pretended everything was normal
As if the intermission were just a technical pause
We learned nothing we only learned the vanity
Of calling what was anesthesia overcoming
