Ashes of our fallen brothers
Scattered on the ground
Paint the blue scenario
Of mourning all around

I wash my hands of sorrow
There’s nothing to be done
They had their chance to struggle
Now they’re gone, they’re gone

And I stood there waiting, splitting
Branching like a tree
The wind, the sun, the painful storms
Were also nurturing me
I grew strong and deep in roots
That held me to the ground
To this life I remain bound

In my bare trunk there are carved
Hearts that never fade
Memories of long gone lovers
Hidden in the shade

As I stood there growing, spreading
Thriving like a tree
The wind, the sun and storms I faced
Were also feeding me
I grew strong and tall in limbs
