I was born here
My memories are strong and clear
The second son of an Irish Catholic family
From the old part of town
I have pride of place
Etched in the lines on my face
I may move at a different pace
But I get around
And I know sunshine
I know clear blue skies
I know wide-open spaces
And beaches of golden sand
I know forest trees
I know deep blue seas
And I know these belong to me

Like all children
I set sail in a strong wind
Never one to be all that big on winning
Still I make it by the seat of my pants
Now I’ve got kids to raise
To see through these interesting days
But I’d rather laze in the shade
Given half the chance
