Het Marionettentheater is zo donker van binnenThe Puppet Theater is so dark inside
Gaslampen verlichten het podiumGas lamps light the stage
We kijken terwijl het gordijn begint te stijgenWe're watching as the curtain begins to rise

Sssssshhhh... Hier komen de MarionettenSssssshhhh... Here come the Puppets
Er is 1... 2... Ik zie 3 Marionetten wachten in de coulissenThere is 1... 2... I see 3 Puppets waiting in the wing
Dan beginnen ze te lopen, in een rijThen they start to walk, in line
En ineens staan ze allemaal op het podiumAnd suddenly they're all on the stage
Ik zie de Marionettenmeester hoog boven op de loopbrugI see the Puppet Master high above on the walkway
Hij trekt aan één touw en een been gaat omhoog.. Een hoofd gaat omlaagHe pulls one string and up goes a leg.. Down goes a head
Hij trekt nog één keer en laat ze allemaal los!He pulls one more and he lets them all go!

Geen touwen, niemand valt, helemaal geen touwen...No strings, none of them fall, no strings at all...

Ik kijk naar de Kleine Trommeljongen, op het podium... Oh neeI take a look at the Little Drummer Boy, up on the stage... Oh no
Ik denk dat hij naar me keek, is hij levend?I think he looked at me, is he alive?
Ik krijg een beetje angst... terwijl hij begint te drummenI get a little scared...as he starts to play his drum
Op de huid van zijn hand zie ik een klein snijwondje... Bloed!On the skin of his hand, I see a little cut... Blood!

De Meester zelf staat op het podiumThe Master himself is on the stage
Met zijn kinderen, het gordijn moet vallenWith his children, the curtain must fall
En dan zijn de Marionetten weg.And then the Puppets they are gone
